Includes ALTCS applicant and community spouse combined income *Year 2026

This limit applies to applicants who are married and the spouse lives in the community, NOT in a nursing home. Do NOT count the following toward the applicant’s GROSS monthly income:

  • VA Aid & Attendance
  • VA Housebound Assistance
  • VA income amounts due to unusual medical expenses
  • VA reduced pension
  • VA income for clothing allowance and/or caregiver payments.

When combined, is the ALTCS applicant’s income and their spouse’s total GROSS monthly income at or below $5,964* per month?
